ABOUT

Brothers, Joseph and Daniel Tong have been playing together for over 30 years, since their performance at the South Bank Centre of Schubert’s Fantasy in F Minor, D940 as teenage students at Wells Cathedral School. This beloved work has remained a treasured part of their repertoire ever since. Their careers as solo and chamber musicians have taken them all around Europe and beyond, both with diverse musical lives, whether it be Joseph’s acclaimed solo Schumann (BBC Music Magazine Instrumental Choice) and Sibelius discs for Quartz, or Daniel’s London Bridge Trio (shortlisted for Gramophone Chamber Music Award) and Beethoven Violin and Cello Sonata recordings for SOMM and Resonus. But frequently they have always returned to making music together, exploring the rich world of music for four hands at one piano.

Notable performances have included Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring to celebrate the work’s centenary in an event at Oxford University led by Dame Monica Mason, numerous recitals at the Jacqueline du Pre Music building, visits to the Wye Valley Chamber Music Festival, Barber Institute in Birmingham and St David’s Hall, Cardiff. They regularly take part in ‘house party’ residential events with musicologist Richard Wigmore and have played in the fjords of Norway and the Mediterranean on Fred Olsen cruise ships.
